This year at Zi Wu Men UK we saw in the Chinese New Year with a traditional Chinese hotpot reunion dinner attended by students and friends of The Norfolk School of Chinese Martial Arts. Laughter, food, performance and a Celebration of the incoming year of the rat. The reunion dinner is symbolic of getting together to see in the new year. In China families travel great distance to be together for this auspicious night.

The legend of the Spring Festival’s origin, was when the monster Nian would come and terrorise the villages. The people would hide in their homes together prepare a great feast with offerings to the ancestors and gods, and hope that this would satisfy the Monster Nian.
