Gong Fu Tea

Gong Fu tea ceremony.

Attention to tea making quality has been a classic Chinese tradition and the term Gongfu tea literally means “making tea with skill” It involves the ritualized preparation and presentation of tea.

Da Hong Pao

A heavily oxidised dark Oolong tea from the Wuyi mountains of Fujian Province China, today also a cultural heritage site.

Wuyi teas are sometimes called “rock teas” (yancha) because of the distinctive mountain rock below the soil that enriches the leaves. Tea grown in the rocky, mineral-rich soil contains a variety of trace elements and is highly prized. There is much folklore about Da Hong Pao explaining the origins of its name and the extraordinary claims made about its health benefits, it was believed to cure all diseases.

An excellent diuretic effect which can help get rid of lactic acid and uric acid and other harmful substances in the body. The tea polyphenols and vitamin C both have useful function in blood circulation and can help prevent arteriosclerosis. Drinking tea regularly can lower the incidence of hypertension and coronary heart disease. Compounds such as inositol, folic acid, pantothenic acid in tea can regulate fat metabolism, especially in Da Hong Pao, they can have a good decomposition effect of protein and fat, therefore drinking tea can not only help with weight loss but can help lower blood cholesterol and blood lipids.

Honoured as “king of Wuyi tea”. Da Hong Pao is carefully made with exquisite handicraft.  The leaves are hand rolled and roasted making them dark red/brown. It is one of the most expensive Chinese teas.
